Alan Abando, M.D.
Cedar Park Surgeons
Dr. Alan Abando graduated cum laude from Carleton College in Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in biology before earning his medical degree from Chicago's Rush Medical College. He completed his general surgery residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital in California.
Dr. Abando worked for two years at Huntington Memorial Hospital, an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery designated Center of Excellence, focusing on minimally invasive bariatric surgery. He is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He opened Cedar Park Surgeons in 2007 with Dr. Nicole Basa. Dr. Abando attended advanced wound care training and the International ATMO hyperbaric medicine course prior to joining the panel in August 2011, when the center opened its doors. He sees patients at the wound care center on Thursdays.
Angela Akin, D.O.
Cedar Park Physician Associates, Cypress Creek
It's important to have a physician who understands your unique healthcare needs. Dr. Angela Akin, an Austin native, is a specialist in family medicine who takes the time to listen and get to know her patients. She provides prompt, attentive care for individuals of all ages.
Dr. Akin joined the Cedar Park Physician Associates in November 2010. Her practice is located on Cypress Creek Road in Cedar Park. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Tennessee in 2001, obtained her medical degree from Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007, and completed residency training in Chicago, Illinois in 2010.
She is Board Certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Akin joined the wound care center panel in April 2014 after attending Accelecare's advanced wound care training and the International ATMO hyperbaric medicine course. Dr. Akin is in the wound care clinic on Tuesday afternoons.
Michael Chaney, M.D.
Accelecare Wound Professionals
Dr. Michael Chaney obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas. From there, he attended the University of Texas Medical Branch, graduated in 1975, and completed his plastic surgery residency at the Cronin-Brauer Clinic in Houston in 1980. He was in private practice and worked as a plastic surgeon until 2012 in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Chaney joined Accelecare Wound Professionals in 2012 and moved to Austin. He attended Accelecare's advanced wound care training and International ATMO hyperbaric medicine course prior to joining the panel in November of that year. Dr. Chaney is in clinic two half-days a week.
Ryan Shock, D.P.M.
Podiatry, Foot & Ankle Specialist
Dr. Ryan Shock obtained his bachelor dual degree in biology and chemistry at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Dr. Shock then attended Chicago Medical School for his post graduate work.
He completed his residency in Seattle, with comprehensive training in all aspects of foot and ankle care including limb salvage and advanced wound care. In addition he trained in reconstruction, sports medicine, and trauma. Dr. Shock had the privilege to train in reconstruction of the foot and ankle at the Sigvard T. Hansen Foot and Ankle Institute at Harborview Medical Center and received microsurgery training in San Francisco at the M.O.E.T. Institute. Dr. Shock has a passion for the functional restoration of the foot and ankle and is board qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgeons in both Foot surgery and in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle surgery.
Dr. Shock joined Precision Podiatry in 2014 and is the newest member of the wound care physician panel. He attended advanced wound care training provided by Accelecare and the International ATMO hyperbaric oxygen course prior to joining the panel. Dr. Shock sees wound care patients at the center on Monday afternoons.
Dr. Jon Smedley joined Precision Podiatry in July of 2004. Dr. Smedley is a native of Austin and graduated from St. Michael's Academy with honors. He finished college after three years, continuing his studies at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine where he served as student director of clinical affairs.
Dr. Smedley completed a 2-year podiatric surgery residency in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle at Akron General Medical Center. He is both Board Certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. His primary interests include general podiatry, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and wound care.
Serving as the Wound Care Center's Medical Director, Dr. Smedley was instrumental in the opening of the center in August of 2011. He attended the International ATMO hyperbaric medicine course and Accelecare's advanced wound care training prior to joining the panel.
Dr. Smedley has over 12 years of wound care experience and enjoys taking care of the patients with foot and lower leg wounds. He sees patients at the wound care center on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons.
Mark Stoeckel, M.D.

Dr. Mark Stoeckel is a family physician that brings many years of experience in caring for families and individuals of all ages. His practice, Cedar Park Physician Associates, is located on Cypress Creek Road in Cedar Park. He specializes in preventive medicine, treatment of illnesses and management of chronic conditions.
Dr. Stoeckel obtained his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He completed his residency in family medicine and a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
He has been a part of the wound care physician panel since November 2012. Dr. Stoeckel has attended Accelecare's advanced wound care training and the International ATMO hyperbaric medicine course. Dr. Stoeckel sees his wound care patients in clinic on Wednesdays.
