Chronic, non-healing wounds, those that haven’t shown signs of improvement in several weeks or are not responding to typical treatments, need extra help to heal. Difficult wounds of this type are often caused by injury, disease or poor blood supply. Cedar Park Regional Medical Center provides specialized treatment for these types of wounds.
At Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, our specially trained team of doctors, nurses and technologists provide comprehensive, cost-effective wound care to patients with non-healing wounds. On your first visit, our wound healing team will evaluate your wound and review your medical history and general health. Depending on the origin of the wound, special tests may be necessary (performed at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center) to provide important information about blood flow and tissue oxygenation, and to determine whether an infection is complicating the healing process.
Once your test results are received and analyzed, our wound healing team, in conjunction with your primary care doctor, will develop a treatment program based on your special needs. Your program may involve regular visits to the center for treatment, as well as follow-up care to assess your progress or make necessary changes to your treatment program. We use advanced wound dressing products, and you’ll also be instructed on in-home wound care, dressing changes and ways to reduce further skin breakdown.
