Cedar Park Regional Medical Center Resumes Elective Surgeries and Procedures Effective May 1, 2020

In accordance with Governor Abbott’s executive order, Cedar Park Regional Medical Center (CPRMC) will restart elective surgeries and procedures starting May 1, 2020. Patients who delayed surgery or other non-emergent procedures can now work with their physicians to schedule necessary care at CPRMC. These services were suspended last month to comply with state orders.
“Our leadership team and medical staff have been working collaboratively on a plan to resume elective surgeries and procedures,” said Bo Beaudry, CEO. “In addition to our standard environmental safety procedures, we have implemented additional precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients, physicians and staff. As we begin to reopen services, we remain vigilant in our fight against COVID-19.”
According to Shea Combs, MD, Chief of Staff, “The hospital has taken numerous actions for infection prevention by restricting access to the facility, social distancing and optimizing patient flow. It has been gratifying to work with the medical and executive leadership at CPRMC as we provide the highest standard of care and navigate these challenging times.”
CPRMC safety precautions include:
- Testing all patients for COVID-19 prior to receiving elective surgery or procedure
- Creating non-COVID-19-care (NCC) zones where patients who have screened negative for COVID-19 will receive care
- Limiting entry points into our facilities
- Screening everyone who comes through our doors, including temperature checks for all patients, staff members and physicians
- Restricting visitors, with exceptions made for laboring mothers, neonatal patients and end-of-life situations
- Spacing the furniture in waiting areas to maintain appropriate social distancing
- Isolating all COVID-19 positive and PUI patients in designated COVID care zones
- Continuing to require all staff and physicians at CPRMC to wear masks throughout the campus
- Enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols
“Our operational precautions promote patient safety and confidence across all sites of care,” added Beaudry. “We are ramping up gradually to provide ample opportunity to evaluate the processes we have in place and make modifications as needed. Residents have helped limit the spread of COVID-19 by sheltering-in-place and have been generous in their outpouring of appreciation and support for our hospital caregivers. We are extremely grateful, and we want community members to know that we are taking every precaution necessary to protect them and their loved ones.”
